A Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free, Easy naturally sweet treat.
Serves: 32 pieces
  • 2 cartons fresh figs
  • 1¼ dark (gluten-free) chocolate bars
  1. Wash figs and cut lengthwise with a knife and place in the freezer on parchment paper for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a double boiler on medium heat melt the chocolate. Once melted move to low heat and keep on low heat for the entire chocolate dipping process. (this prevents the chocolate from clumping)
  3. Remove figs from freezer and dip each fig into the chocolate mixture halfway.
  4. Place chocolate covered figs on parchment paper in the freezer and let the chocolate freeze for about 20 minutes.
  5. Keep frozen or keep in the fridge until ready to eat. It's a win either way. Remember to keep them in a closed zip lock bag or container.
The beauty about this fruit, that even if you keep them in the freezer for days the figs do not turn frozen. You can still take a bite into the chewy heart of the fruit.
These are perishable, do not keep longer then 1-2 days, even if you freeze them, because they do not freeze all the way. Store in a ziplock bag or container.
Make sure you are using gluten-free chocolate like Enjoy Life, Vita Organics, Hu Kitchen, Organic Nirvana or Endangered Species. Use 69% dark chocolate or higher.
