A healthy and quick Carob Hot Cocoa recipe for the sugar, gluten and caffeine-free foodie.
Serves: 2
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk ( I used a combination of coconut milk and Lite Culinary coconut milk / I have also used hemp milk)
  • 1½ cups water
  • ¼ heaping teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1½ tablespoons unsweetened Carob powder
  • optional: 1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa or raw cacao powder
  • 3-5 drops chocolate liquid Stevia by NOW or unflavored liquid Stevia
  1. In a high speed blender, blend all the ingredients together for about 1-2 minutes. The longer you do it, the frothier it gets. I love the froth!
  2. Pour mixture into two mugs and microwave for 2 minutes.
Adding any other sweetener to this drink will make this drink not suitable for those with Candida, or on sugar-free diets. But, if a little sweetener is what you need try pure grade maple syrup, Coconut or date sugar. For those that do not know where to get Stevia, try Truvia which can be found at many markets, but just use ½ packet, maybe even less. Go slow, it's stronger then regular sugar. I have made this with pure water, and no non-dairy milk. It's not the best in comparison to non-dairy milks, but hey - if you need a fix - it works.
You can use any non-dairy milk you want like almond milk, cashew milk, soy milk, quinoa milk, rice milk, coconut milk, culinary coconut milk, hemp milk, pistachio milk, macadamia nut milk, pumpkin seeds milk, Tigernut milk, and even cow's milk.
