If you love the aromas of spearmint and peppermint in a milkshake form as I do, you're going to LOVE this smoothie. It is remarkable how the creaminess of soy milk, avocado, and cantaloupe makes this one taste as creamy as ice cream and gives it that milkshake feeling. Throw in a couple of chocolate chips and you have one stellar mint chip gelato smoothie. Plus that hemp seed crust on the rim? Oh my goodness, it's heaven in a jar!

How to make a mint gelato smoothie
A good mint gelato smoothie consists of a few things. It's not just one ingredient churned together to create this magical smoothie. A variety of foods go into a smoothie to get that texture right, and those nutrients balanced, that taste superb, and those fruits harmonized.
- whole food ingredients only
- no artificial flavorings, thickeners, artificial ingredients
- cantaloupe
- cacao nibs
- hemp seeds
- soy milk or hemp seed milk
- avocado
- romaine lettuce & Mache rosettes
- spices and herbs for flavors like mint leaves
- own a high-speed blender like a Nutribullet
Did you know that cantaloupe works in smoothies the way bananas do?
And that soy milk is creamier in texture than most plant milk variations?
Also incredible to know that avocado and cantaloupe work incredibly well together.

How to make this smoothie thick and creamy
- Avocado
- Soy milk but you can also use dairy milk (if tolerated), hemp milk, and other homemade milk variations
- Cantaloupe
- Hemp seeds and gluten-free oats
How to create a smoothie crust
A dessert smoothie without a crust seems so wrong. So I played around trying to create a crust around the rim of the glass. Maple syrup does not work, but I found that agave syrup did because it's stickier. You can also use honey. You'll coat the rim in agave syrup with your finger or a spoon, then roll the glass rim into the crushed hemp seeds and crushed gluten-free oats. It's totally delicious and a fun way to enjoy the dessert/breakfast.
